2012 Sauter Family

Congratulations to the Sauter family for being awarded the “2011 Family Tradition Award.”  Ten children were born to Harold and Patty Sauter from Manfred ND.  Harold passed away in October 2010, and very influential in his family receiving an education, as he never had the opportunity to attend college.  The children started the family tradition with six of the nine children attending NDSCS along with spouses and their children.

Karen Sauter Dahlgren graduated in 1978 in the Legal Secretary Program.  Karen is currently employed at NDSCS. She started her career in 1977 and currently works in the Academic Services Center. Her husband, Robin, is a 1976 graduate from the Plumbing program and works for the city of Wahpeton.  Robin’s two brothers and three sisters also attended NDSCS.

Kathy Sauter’s son, Kevin Peters, is a 2005 graduate from the Business Management program.  Kevin resides in Aberdeen, SD and is employed with Progressive Financial Services.

Bob Sauter graduated in 1979 from Agri-Business and in 1993 from the Electrical program. Bob and his family live in Washburn and he is employed at Great River Energy.

Mary Sauter Ehni graduated from the LPN program in 1980 and her husband, Randy Ehni, graduated from Auto Body in 1979, and their son, Nathan Ehni, is a 2006 graduate of Liberal Arts.  Mary works at the St. Francis Nursing Home in Breckenridge and Randy is employed at Vision Ford in Wahpeton.

Bill Sauter graduated from the Electrical program in 1982. His wife, Penney Faul Sauter, graduated from the LPN program in 1982. Bill, Penney and family live in Hazen, Bill works at Basin Electric and Penney is employed at St. Martin’s Catholic Church.

Dan Sauter graduate from the Civil Engineering Technology program in 1983. He is employed at the North Dakota State Water Commission and resides in Bismarck.

Julie Sauter Kjellerson and Mark Kjellerson both attended NDSCS. Julie took an accounting class during the summer of 1987. Mark graduated in 1980 from the Radio & TV Technology program and in 1982 from the Radio Communications program.  Mark is employed at Ellsworth Air Force Base and Julie is a financial consultant for Standard Technology Inc. they reside in Rapid City, SD.

Steve Selzler graduated from the Auto Technology program in 1990 and does auto mechanic work on the side, while owning and operating the Medicine Shoppe in Harvey with his wife, Carol Sauter Selzler.

The youngest Sauter son passed away at the age of 12 from leukemia. 

Patty Sauter stated that, “The education her children have received at NDSCS was excellent and has been very beneficial for her family in where they are at in their lives today.”
