Robert & Mary Gette

Bob & Mary Gette are fixtures at NDSCS events. Regardless of snow, sleet or rain you will find them in the audience. It is only fitting that they be honored as the 2011 Homecoming Parade Grand Marshalls. The Gette’s moved to Wahpeton in 1965 when Bob took a job teaching in the Business Administration and Computer Science departments.  In 1978 Bob moved to the position of Dean of the Arts, Science and Business Division and then on to VP for Academic Affairs in 1989, a position he held until retiring in 2002. Since retiring, he has served as a consultant on many projects here at NDSCS. Bob was named NDSCS VP Emeritus in May of 2006. Mary is active in community organizations including Women’s Literary Club, Friends of the Library, and Catholic Daughters. She serves as a food pantry volunteer, church office volunteer and nursing home volunteer. She worked at Community First National Bank (now Bank of the West) for 25 years retiring in 2002.

Bob and Mary have been married for 47 years and have a son David who with his wife Sarah live in Somers, NY. They have a 6-year old daughter, Olivia and 3-year old twin boys, Andrew and Zachary. Bob and Mary’s daughter, Michelle Davis and husband Greg reside in Savage, MN with their 6-year old daughter, Norah and 4-year old daughter, Sophia. 

Bob and Mary have been NDSCS Catbacker’s and NDSCS Alumni Foundation Dreams Auction Committee members over the years. Bob was a member of the American Technical Education Association, American Career and Technical Education Association, and North Dakota Vocational Education Association, where he was recognized Educator of the Year in 1999. He has served on the Wahpeton Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and has served as Campaign Chairman for the United Way.  He was a Wahpeton Kiwanis Club member for 24 years and is a former St. John’s School Board of Education member.
