Roger Hentges

Roger Hentges is a proud 1962 NDSCS Mechanical Drafting & Design graduate.  He consistently demonstrates his love for the school in many ways.  First and for most, Roger is always an ambassador for NDSCS.  He is ready and willing take part and help no matter what the occasion.  He has worked with several different programs on campus, developed curriculum and recruited NDSCS students to mentor at Mid-American Steel.

He stated his career in June of 1962 and became the Vice President of Production and Sales at MidAmerica Steel, in the late 70’s, retiring in 2008.  “His hard work and loyalty are qualities that keeps him working to this day, as a consultant with us,” said John from MidAmerica. Roger is very active in their church, he has served on the church building committee, God’s Gift Appeal, Capital Campaigns, Usher, Greeter, and volunteers for projects with the school and church.

Roger and his wife Donna have been very generous to NDSCS through not only their giving of time, but through significant monetary donations.  In the past 5 years, they have established a named Endowment Scholarship creating tuition assistance for students for many years to come. They support the Annual Giving Campaign, DREAMS, and often attends events to promote NDSCS.

Roger and Donna live in West Fargo, ND.  He has had a successful career with Mid-American Steel for the last 52 years. His most recent contribution has been through supporting the CIC building in Fargo.  He has been instrumental in making sure we receive product at a substantial discount.

Roger has represented NDSCS very well over the past 35 years and deserves the 2022 Alumnus of the Year Award.
